Sutton (St Helens) Cricket Club - About Sutton Cricket Club

Founded in 1864 Sutton (St Helens) Cricket Club offers a comprehensive range of cricketing opportunities for all ages and skill levels. We have three senior teams: the 1st XI, 2nd XI, and a Sunday XI, competing in the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition and the West Lancashire Cricket League. In addition, Sutton CC boasts a robust junior program including 5-8 years All Stars programs, Under 9s, 11s, 13s, 15s, and 17s, as well as a Last Man Stands team. The club also supports women's cricket through its women's softball team and u'15s girls team.

The club is very lucky to have multiple ECB level 1-3 cricket coaches that provide sessions to all our juniors, women‘s and girls' teams.

Women's and girls cricket:

We have always been open to women and girls joining in the section! We are very proud to say we now have an under 15s girls' team and a women's softball team. Some of our girls have gone on to represent the club at county and district level, it’s a massive achievement and one the club is very proud of.  Our women's and girls' teams are spearheaded by our homegrown talent, Natalie Brown, who has played in the Hundred and for Lancashire Thunder.

Our activities:

Our fully qualified ECB level 1-3 coaches run a whole host of activities throughout the year including our All-Stars program for ages 5-8. We run junior training sessions between April to September, managed by volunteers and parents. We are proud to hold the ECB Clubmark and pride ourselves on providing the best standards possible with the limited finances available.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We desperately need new, safe, practice nets! We have been quoted around £50,000 to install brand new cricket nets.  To proceed, we have hired a bid writer with expertise in securing ECB and Sport England grants, and we have committed to raising approximately £10,000 to cover their fees and the 10% down payment required.

We are reaching out to our members, businesses, the local community and beyond for your help! We will be completing multiple fundraising events kicking off with climbing up Snowdon on 5th April 2025!

The training nets will be there for the next 20 years and beyond, providing safe facilities for the local community and children to continue to enjoy!

Community impact:

Sutton Cricket Club is more than just a cricket club. It is the heart of the community.  Our facilities benefit everyone, from a safe place to sit and watch some sport on a sunny day, to becoming a fully fledged playing member.

Join Us:

Your support will help this humble 160 year old cricket club continue to provide safe and enjoyable training facilities for generations to come!
